Lesbian Line, the Women’s Section of the Cara-Friend organization, works on behalf of lesbians and bisexual women.  The ‘Line’ has been in operation (in one form or another) since 1974 and currently organises a wide range of women-only activities, including a helpline,  ‘Sunday Scene’ drop-in, literary discussion group and monthly disco.  Plans are afoot for even more—such as film showings, creative writing group, etc.  The Line also runs periodic one-off events throughout the year.  As we depend on the commitment of our volunteers, we are always on the lookout for ‘Willing Women’ to join us.  Just ring in for details.

Lesbian Line Helpline

The Line operates every Thursday evening from 7:30pm - 10pm on

Please feel free to ring in on any issue you may have concerning your life as a lesbian or a bisexual woman, or indeed for general information.

Feeling isolated?  Think you might be the only lesbian in Belfast?  The women on the Line can arrange a befriending, where you meet with two of their members in a secure environment.  Ring the Line for details.

‘Literary Lesbians’

Literary Lesbians is a discussion group that meets on the third Sunday of each month at 3.00 p.m. in the Cara-Friend Rooms, Cathedral Buildings, Donegall Street.

Ring the Line for more details of this event.

‘Sunday Scene’ Drop-In

The Sunday Scene is a women-only drop-in, a social space to gather and relax, held on the third Sunday of each month, from 3.00 to 6.00 p.m. in the Cara-Friend Rooms, Cathedral Buildings, Donegall Street.

Contact Lesbian Line for further information.

Don’t Forget About QueerSpace

With Lesbian Line organizing so many activities, there’s plenty to get involved with.  Just don’t forget to get involved with QueerSpace too.  Women and men of all flavours are always welcome at our Collective Meetings (Wednesdays, 7.30-9.00 p.m., followed by coffee and maybe a trip to the John Hewitt) and at the InSpace coffee lounge (Saturdays, 3.00-6.00 p.m.).  Make QueerSpace your space!
